K code Mustangs

64 1/2 K Code Convertible

$199,950.00

Literally, the pinnacle example amongst the finest 1964 1/2 K Codes known to exist. This authentic automobile is one of the rarest and most desirable of the breed of K code Mustangs encompassing just 24 documented surviving convertibles. This vehicle is known worldwide as the only surviving High Performance Mustang promotional car, as described in the book "HiPo 1964 1/2 Ford's First High Performance Mustang History Identification Lore".  This icon has been photo documented in numerous publications over the last 45 years following it's rediscovery in 1973 and was most recently featured on the Jay Leno's Garage program.  It was meticulously restored under the supervision of Mustang collector, researcher, historian, author, and foremost authority on the early high performance Mustangs, Scott McMullen.  It wears it's factory spec Guardsman Blue color painstakingly matched to the original. This color was only available on 64 1/2 K code Mustangs for a little over a month from mid/late June thru July of 1964.  The car is the only example with original black interior upholstery - which was not available as a standard color option with the Guardsman blue exterior - further cementing this classic as a one-of-one treasure.  It is also the only surviving 64 1/2 K code Mustang factory equipped and documented with an automatic choke High Performance carburetor, besides the black pre-production Mustang coupe built for Henry Ford II.

This extraordinary early production High Performance Mustang earned a Pinnacle Division I trophy in 2023at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals - arguably the most critical and prestigious classic muscle car competition in North America.

This incredible piece of automotive history is offered as it was configured for, and driven by, Jay Leno on Jay Leno's Garage as shown in the photo above. (Photo courtesy of Jay Leno's Garage.) Additional photos of the car as it was presented at the 2023 MCACN are shown below. Many of the additional rare parts shown in these photos are available for purchase separately.

    D code Mustangs

    1964 1/2 D code Convertible

    $49,950.00
Pay with PayPal or a debit/credit card

An exceptional example of a very early San Jose built 1964 1/2 D Code convertible. This authentic automobile is amongst a rare and very desirable group of cars built on or about the first day of Mustang production at the San Jose (located in Milpitas, CA) Ford plant in July 1964.   It was beautifully restored in 1996 to MCA concours driven standards and has been "refreshed" twice since.  It wears it's factory spec Prairie Bronze color painstakingly matched to the original. Emphasizing the rarity of this beautiful car is the fact that the San Jose only built 64 1/2 Mustangs for 18 days starting July 13th and concluding on July 31st, 1964.

The car also features the very rare 64 1/2 A/C setup which differs greatly from the A/C system installed in regular 1965 production starting after July 31st, 1964.  The car retains it's date correct 5 bolt 289 engine with original 4bbl carburetor and 4 speed toploader transmission. It has 64 1/2 style  dual exhaust used on the early K codes.  The car has had the same owner for over 30 years.
